The Witsprouts Storytelling Prize 2025

The Witsprouts Project is thrilled to announce the launch of the Witsprouts Storytelling Prize, a new contest dedicated to reviving the powerful tradition of oral storytelling while spotlighting exceptional Nigerian storytelling talent.

This inaugural edition is themed “Rebooting Legends and Memories” and invites Nigerian storytellers—both at home and in the diaspora—to craft original 5–10 minute video stories that celebrate the spirit of traditional narrative art.

Winner receives N500,000
Featured platform to share your original storytelling performance
The chance to join a movement bringing “tales by moonlight” back to life

Eligibility Requirements for the Witsprouts Storytelling Prize

Open to Nigerian storytellers, performers, and creatives (worldwide)
Must be 100% original and theatrical in presentation
Must follow entry requirements on Instagram

Submission Guidelines for the Witsprouts Storytelling Prize

Theme: Rebooting Legends and Memories
Record a 5–10 minute video of yourself narrating a story on the theme
- Use voice modulation, facial expressions, gestures, choreography, music, or other creative elements
Post the video to your Instagram profile
- Tag: @witsproutsorg and @witsprouts as collaborators
- Hashtag: Use #WitsproutsStorytellingPrize in your caption
- Follow both accounts to be eligible
Submissions must be uploaded by May 31, 2025
