The UEA New Form Writing Award / How to Apply (Prizes: £4000 + more)
On Monday, the 25th of November, 2019, The National Centre for Writing (NCW) launched two new awards to support new but promising writers.
One of the awards is the UEA ( University of East Anglia) New Form Writing Award. This is an award that was established to support “writers who find difficulty in finding a home for their writing due to choosing to write more unusual, experimental work.”
Worth £4000, the winner of the award will have the opportunity to be mentored and will be introduced to various promotional platforms, depending on the writer’s specific need. They want application from writers who challenge traditional form, who love to experiment—whether with theme, style, voice, structure, or language—/and from those who collaborate with other art-forms.
The deadline for submission is Friday, 17th of January, 2020.
Who is Eligible to Apply:
- Writers who are more than 18 years old and who live in England at the time of application and until June 2021.
- Applicants must have no novel or story collection published.
- Applicants must be those who need support.
- There is no application fee.
How to Apply:
- A sample of your work that best represents you as an experimental writer; must not be more than 2000 words.
- A supporting statement of not more than 250 words which should include: Your writing experience and achievements; why you need the fellowship right now in your career; and a description of the writing project you are currently working on.
