The Steinbeck Fellowship/ How to Apply(Up to $15,000)
The Steinbeck Fellowship is now accepting applications. The Steinbeck Fellows Program of San José State University, endowed through the generosity of Martha Heasley Cox, offers writers of any age and background a $15,000 fellowship to finish a significant writing project. Furthermore, the program honours author John Steinbeck by drawing guidance from his lifetime of work in literature, media, and environmental activism.
Additionally, Fellowships are currently offered in Creative Writing (excluding poetry) and Steinbeck Studies. Fellows may be appointed in many fields, including literary scholarship, fiction, drama, education, science and the media. Here’s all you need to know before applying:
Eligibility for The Steinbeck Fellowship
- There is no entry fee.
- The fellowship is open to writers from all over the globe.
- Applicants may be in literary scholarship, fiction, drama, education, science and the media.
- The fellowship program does not consider poetry applications.
Requirements for The Steinbeck Fellowship
- Submit a proposal or prospectus outlining your project (one to three pages) and include a basic timeline.
- Resume.
- Three letters of recommendation (sent directly from the recommender).
- Writing sample of no more than twenty-five pages.
- Manuscripts should follow standard formatting: double-spaced, 1” margins.
Benefits
- The program offers the opportunity to interact with other writers, faculty, and graduate students, and to share your work in progress by giving a public reading during the fellowship.
- Fellowships include a stipend of $15,000.
