The Nigeria Prize for Literature | How To Apply (Prize: $100,000)
The Nigeria Prize for Literature, sponsored by NLNG, is now open for submissions for its 2025 edition. This prestigious annual award honors the best book by a Nigerian author and rotates among four literary genres: Prose Fiction, Poetry, Drama, and Children’s Literature.
For 2025, the competition is dedicated to Prose Fiction, and the winner will receive a grand prize of USD 100,000.
Submission Procedure
- Entries must be submitted with a completed application form available on The Nigeria Prizes website.
- Applicants must submit twelve (12) hard copies and an e-copy of their entry, along with proof of Nigerian citizenship (photocopy of passport or National ID card).
- Submissions can be made by either the author or publisher.
- Deliver books to NLNG’s External Relations Division by the stipulated deadline.

Eligibility Criteria
- The organizers will consider only books published in 2022 or later for eligibility.
- They do not accept unpublished manuscripts.
- Authors must limit their submissions to one published work.
- The organizers may accept resubmissions of previously submitted books if they have undergone major revisions.
- They exclude entries from members of the Advisory Board, Panel of Judges, or their families for up to five years after their tenure.
- The organizers will not consider late submissions.
