The Kenyon Review Fellowships / How To Apply ($42,000 + more)
Applications are now open for The Kenyon Review Fellowships. The Kenyon Review introduced its KR Fellows program in 2012, building on its legacy of literary fellowships that supported notable writers like Flannery O’Connor and W.S. Merwin in the 1950s. This initiative fulfills a key aspect of our mission: recognizing, publishing, and supporting outstanding authors in their early careers. We believe that after two years, KR Fellows will emerge as more mature and sophisticated writers, teachers, and editors, making them highly attractive candidates for academic positions and significant publishing opportunities.
This post-graduate residential fellowship at Kenyon College offers qualified individuals time to develop as writers, teachers, and editors. The fellowship provides an annual stipend, plus health benefits.
Eligibility For The Kenyon Review Fellowships
Any writer who has completed an MFA or PhD degree between January 1, 2019 and September 15, 2024. Also, Applicants must have professional teaching experience in creative writing and/or literature at the undergraduate level.
Requirements for The Kenyon Review Fellowships
A complete application must include the following:
- A one-page cover letter
- A curriculum vitae
- An 8-10 page writing sample
- A one-page course proposal for an undergraduate introductory level multi-genre creative writing class
- An unofficial transcript
- Two letters of recommendation, one of which should directly address the applicant’s teaching ability.
