The Jericho Fellowship/ How to Submit (Prize: €8,000 + more).

The Jericho Fellowship is a four-day gathering of artists, creators, and scholars – where time, space and ideas are shared. The Jericho Fellowship offers prizes in five categories: the Essay Prize, the Playwriting Prize, the Visual Art Prize,  the Innovation Prize, and the Music Prize. Each prize worths €8,000. The deadline for submissions is April 30, 2020.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants can be from anywhere in the world.
  • Applicants must be 18 years or older.
  • There is no submission fee.

How to Submit:

  • Essay Prize:
    • Submit an original piece, either fiction or nonfiction, on the theme of “Utopia”.
    • The piece must not exceed 2500 words.
    • The piece must be written in English.
    • Only one submission per person will be considered.
    • The subject of your email should be “Essay Prize”.
    • Submit to: apply@jerichofellowship.com.
  • Playwriting Prize:
    • For this prize, you could submit a stage play or screenplay on the theme of “Utopia”.
    • Submit a dialogue sample of at least 10 pages long.
    • Also include a plot summary of the play, and a brief note on how the piece relates to the theme of “Utopia”.
    • Only one entry per person.
    • The subject of your email should be “Playwriting Prize”.
    • Submit to: apply@jerichofellowship.com.
  • Visual Art Prize:
    • Submit a visual art piece – either a painting, drawing, photograph, an original print, mixed media, video art, or sculpture – on the theme “Utopia”.
    • Include a supporting statement of 500 words on how the submitted work relates to the theme of “Utopia”.
    • Your submission should include dimensions of the work and details of the media used.
    • Only one entry per person.
    • The subject of the email should be “Art Prize”.
    • Submit to: apply@jerichofellowship.com.
  • Innovation Prize:
    • Submit a prototype, video, software, or description of an innovation idea. The idea could be in its concept/beta stage.
    • Include a supporting statement of 500 words on how the proposed project or idea relates to the theme of “Utopia”.
    • The subject of the email should be “Innovation Prize”.
    • Submit to: apply@jerichofellowship.com.
  • Music Prize:
    • Submit an original piece of music on the theme “Utopia”.
    • Lyrics can also be submitted, but it’s not compulsory.
    • Include a supporting statement of 500 words on how the music relates to the theme of “Utopia”.
    • The submission should be submitted as an MP3 file or a video of the performance.
    • Only one entry per person will be considered.
    • The subject of the email should be “Music Prize”.
    • Submit to: apply@jerichofellowship.com.

Prize:

  • The winner of the prize in each category receives €8,000.
  • The winners will also be invited to a symposium to present their work, with flight and accomodation fees covered.
