The Individual Artist Fellowship program, administered by Mid Atlantic Arts, provides vital support for practicing New Jersey artists.

Therefore, these artists includes those who do the following: Choreography, Crafts, Music Composition, Photography
, Playwriting/Screenwriting
 Poetry and Sculpture.

Through anonymous and competitive application process, these fellowships help artists pursue their creative goals, offering financial assistance and professional recognition.

Individual Artist Fellowship program

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Individual Artist Fellowship program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Residency: Artists must be permanent residents of the State of New Jersey.
  • More so, residency must be confirmed at the time of application (typically in July) and at the time of the award (typically in March).
  • Age: Applicants must be 18 years or older.
  • Furthermore, the applicant must be the artist whose original work is represented in the work samples.
  • Also, artists who received a fellowship in any category in the past five years are not eligible to apply for the current year.
  • In addition, Applicants cannot be matriculated students in any graduate, undergraduate, or high school program at the time of application and award. Fellowships cannot be used for scholarships or academic study in pursuit of a degree.
  • Collaborative Work: Collaborating New Jersey artists are not eligible to submit a joint application for collaborative work. The applicant artist must have sole creative control over all work submitted under their name.

The application and selection process for the Individual Artist Fellowship program follows a structured timeline:

– Application Deadline: Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 5:00 PM ET

– Review Rules & Instructions: Before submitting your application, carefully review the program Rules & Instructions. Applications that do not adhere to all guidelines are subject to disqualification.

Reward

The fellowship awards range from $4,000 to $32,000, providing substantial support to selected artists. The grant covers various artistic expenses, enabling recipients to focus on their creative pursuits.

Mid Atlantic Arts provides comprehensive administrative support for the Individual Artist Fellowship program on behalf of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. This includes managing application submissions, conducting the review process, and handling post-award administration. Mid Atlantic Arts ensures applicant notification, administers the individual grants, and oversees final reporting.
