The Annual Mogford Short Story Prize — Winner Announced
The winner for the annual Mogford Prize For Food and Drink Writing has been Announced. Yayy!!!
We say a big Congratulations to Jane Cammack for emerging as the winner! Her story, titled ‘THE GLASS KITCHEN’ was selected from over 800 entries from across the globe!
The Mogford Prize party was held at Quod Restaurant & Bar in Oxford where Jeremy Mogford- sponsor of the prize- presented her with a check for a whooping €10,000 (Yes, yes, you read it right) and an engraved award.
She went on to share some inspirational words:
‘Writers are often plagued with self-doubt, and prizes like this give recognition and encouragement. They give the necessary inspiration to keep writing, to keep putting words out there for the readers’
This award is not the first recognition of her writing prowess. She was once awarded the Rubery Award for one of her short stories and her historical fiction novel was in the last five of over 5,000 entries for the Daily Mail First Novel competition! Impressive, huh!
The judges for the 2018 prize were Jeremy and Hilary Mitford, award-winning writer Bill Bryson and cookery writer Lorraine Pascale.
We would also like to congratulate the three other writers that made it to the shortlist:
• Irem Alici
• Micheal Lonty
• Paula McQueen
It was definitely not an easy feat!
