How to Submit Your Sonnets
Eligibility for the Spencer Poetry Awards
- You must be an undergraduate student at a U.S. college or university.
 
Submission Guidelines
- Submit up to three original, unpublished sonnets.
 - Format each poem as a PDF (preferred) or Word file.
 - Include the following details in your document:
- Title page with:
- Your name, address, email, and phone number
 - The college or university you attend
 - Your referring professor’s name & email
 
 - Your poem (you may include dedications, references, and acknowledgments).
 
 - Title page with:
 - Name the file as LastName_FirstName_PoemTitle (or use the first line if untitled).
 
Submission Deadline
Email all entries to poetry@wcupa.edu by February 28, 2025.
Use the subject line: “WCU Poetry Awards.”
Judging Process
- Judges will evaluate entries without seeing the authors’ names.
 - Organizers will remove identifying information before review.
