Litmosphere is the literary journal of Charlotte Lit, accepting submissions of short fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and artwork.

General Submission Guidelines For Litmosphere

  • Reading period is through July 1-31 for the Fall issue.
  • Do not include your name or contact information in the document for unbiased reading.
  • Submissions must be previously unpublished, including on blogs or social media.
  • AI-generated/assisted work is prohibited.
  • One submission per writer per period.
  • Simultaneous submissions are acceptable. Withdraw pieces immediately if accepted elsewhere.

 

What They Want

Poetry

  • Up to five poems, ideally topically, thematically, or stylistically related.
  • Each poem should start on a new page in a single .doc, .docx, or .rtf file (up to ten pages total).
  • Use Times New Roman or another readable font.

Flash Fiction and Nonfiction

  • Up to four pieces (no more than 500 words each).
  • Start each piece on a new page in a single .doc, .docx, or .rtf file.
  • Use Times New Roman or another readable font.

Short Fiction and Literary Nonfiction

  • A single piece (up to 5000 words).
  • Submit as a .doc, .docx, or .rtf file.
  • Use Times New Roman or another readable font.

Eligibility Criteria For Litmosphere 

  • Open to established and emerging writers 18 years and older.
  • All work must be the entrant’s original creation.
  • AI-generated/assisted work is prohibited.

Author Rights

  • Copyright remains with the author.
  • Litmosphere: Charlotte Lit pays for first electronic rights and non-exclusive archival rights.

 

Pay Rates

  • $50 per accepted poem.
  • $50 per accepted flash prose piece.
  • $100 per accepted short fiction or nonfiction piece.

Deadline

  • The current submission period ends on July 31, 2024.
