Literary Icon and Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison, Dies At 88.

Once again, the literary world has been thrown into mourning as another literary legend has passed on  Yes, this time it’s Toni Morrison, the Nobel laureate who was popular for her fantastic novels:  “Beloved,” “Sula,” and “Song of Solomon”. She died in New York on Monday, 5th August, 2019. Details of her death haven’t been made public by her family and friends. All that we know is this: she was 88 years old..

For those who don’t know her, here are a few important facts to know about Toni Morrison..She was an excellent novelist. Most of her work explored the African-American experience.  Beloved, her most popular work of fiction, was made into a movie.

She was regarded as a living legend. Not only was she the first black woman to be awardes the Nobel prize for literature, she was also a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is one of America’s most prestigious civilian honors. President Barack Obama put the medal around her neck. In 1988, Ms. Morrison also won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.
