Eligibility For The Jan and Frank Cicero Artist-in-Residence FellowshipÂ
- Who can apply: Artists and performers including (but not limited to) painters, sculptors, choreographers, dramaturgs, creative writers, composers, and others in artistic fields.
- Newberry Artist-in-Residence fellowships are open to artists of any nationality.
- The Newberry sponsors international scholars under the J-1 visa.
- If you’ve received an artist-in-residence or short-term fellowship before, you cannot apply for another short-term fellowship to work on the same project.
RequirementsÂ
- A project abstract (300 words) describing the significance of your project.
- A 1,000 word project description elaborating on the abstract and plan of work.Â
- 500 words explaining why the Newberry’s collection is relevant to complete your project.
- Current Resume
- Two letters of referenceÂ
- Written works (play and video scripts; prose and poetry; works of non-fictions, etc.) cannot exceed 25 pages in length.Â
- Images and audio-visual materials.Â
- If your samples can be viewed on the web, please include all relevant web addresses.Â
- Also, include any relevant reviews of your work by professional critics.Â
