Granum Foundation Prizes / How to Apply (Prize: $8000)

The Granum Foundation calls on writers and translators based in the US.

The Granum Foundation’s goal is to support individuals on the cusp of finishing a major literary project, investing in writers who might never reach their potential without a little help. They  know brilliant writers who needed an opportunity like this to reach their full potential. Over the years, too many of these people had to choose between survival and art. The Granum Foundation strives to fill the gap so that such a decision doesn’t have to be made.

They are placing bets on undiscovered writers from all walks of life who might never get the chance to complete their first works, or who change careers later in life to chase literary dreams, or who feel they have been excluded from traditional avenues of support.

The Granum Foundation Prizes

There are two prizes awarded by the Granum Foundation.

  1. The Granum Foundation Prize: This will be awarded annually to help U.S.-based writers complete substantive literary works—such as poetry books, essay or short story collections, novels, and memoirs—or to help launch these works.
  2. The Granum Foundation Translation Prize: This will be awarded to support the completion of a work translated into English by a U.S.-based writer.
