The Warburg Institute is pleased to announce the Frances A. Yates Long-Term Fellowships for post-doctoral scholars in cultural, intellectual, or art history. This fully funded fellowship provides an exceptional opportunity for researchers to explore the Institute’s extensive resources and contribute to its vibrant academic community.

Eligibility For The Frances A. Yates Long-Term Fellowships 

 

To be eligible, applicants must:

 

  • Hold a PhD by the start of the Fellowship (September/October 2025)
  • Be of any nationality (non-EU candidates must check UK visa regulations)
  • Not be revising their doctoral dissertation for publication
  • Not have previously held a long-term fellowship at the Institute
  • Not hold another fellowship or award during the Warburg fellowship

 

Benefits of The Frances A. Yates Long-Term Fellowships

 

Successful fellows will receive:

 

  • A stipend of £38,109 for a 12-month fellowship (pro-rata for 9 months)
  • Access to the Warburg Institute’s Library, Photographic Collection, and Archive Opportunities to present research at Work-in-Progress Seminars and contribute to the Institute’s blog, Mnemosyne
  • A dedicated workspace at the Institute

 

Required Documents

Applicants must submit:

 

  • Completed application form
  • Research proposal
  • PhD certificate or proof of completion
  • Two letters of reference (one from the PhD supervisor)

Selection Process:

 

The selection committee will evaluate:

 

  • Academic record
  • Research proposal
  • Relevance to the Warburg Institute’s resources
  • Potential contribution to the Institute’s intellectual life

 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
