Distillations desires pitches that address the following questions:

  • What questions will it attempt to answer?

What They Don’t Want

The magazine does not publish fiction or poetry. Writers are encouraged to focus on non-fiction narratives that uncover scientific history.

Payment

Compensation varies based on the type of submission:

  • $1.25/word for features
  • $750 flat fee for argued essays, columns, and profiles
  • $400 for interviews
