Cynthia Erivo Will Be The Voice of Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Anguish and Anarchy Audiobook
Cynthia Erivo, a British-Nigerian actress, will voice the last book in Tomi Adeyemi’s Legacy of Orisha Trilogy.
The best-selling fantasy series follows the life of Zélie Adebola as she attempts to restore magic in her land, starting off with Children of Blood and Bone, which was published in 2018, then Childen of Virtue and Vengeance in 2019, and finally Children of Anguish and Anarchy, set to come out in June. The first two books of the series debuted as #1 on the New York Times Bestseller list, with Children of Blood and Bone winning the Audie Award for Audiobook of the Year in 2019, among other awards.
Bahni Turpin voiced both books one and two of the series. The Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Award winner Cynthia Erivo will be the voice of the third and final installment. Cynthia is an English actress, singer, and songwriter. She is known for her 2015 Broadway debut as Celie in The Color Purple, and role in the period drama, Harriet which earned her two Oscar nominations in 2020— one for best actress and another for original song.
Tomi Adeyemi, in Peoples Magazine, expressed excitement over Cynthia voicing her book.
“Cynthia is a once-in-a-generation type of talent. Maybe even once in an eon. Everything her beautiful spirit and voice embraces touches my heart. I am absolutely honored that she will be bringing the final installment of this trilogy to life with her incredible talent, and I personally cannot wait to devour her narration!”
Cynthia also mirrored the fantasy author in her remark. “I was so excited to get the chance to help bring Tomi Adeyemi’s breathtaking world of magic and hope to life by narrating the epic conclusion to this exhilarating series.”
“I’ve always been a huge fan of the series so it’s an honor to narrate the final book.”
We look forward to both the print and audiobooks of Children of Anguish and Anarch coming on June 25, 2024.
