Bellingcat Technical Writing Fellowship 2024 is now open for Applications! 

Are you passionate about making open-source investigative tools more accessible and user-friendly? Do you have a knack for technical writing, illustration, or user research? If so, you are encouraged to send in your submission for the Bellingcat Technical Writing Fellowship 2024.

This fellowship offers a unique opportunity for individuals from diverse backgrounds to contribute to the open-source investigative community while honing their skills and making a valuable impact.


Eligibility for
Bellingcat Technical Writing Fellowship

  • Background:  The fellowship is open to individuals from diverse backgrounds and skill sets.
  • Experience: No specific technical or open-source investigatory experience required.
  • Skills: Applicants should be proficient in using the tool they wish to document and possess the necessary skills to complete their proposed project.

Submission Guidelines

  • Application Deadline:  Submit your application by January 15, 2024.
  • Submission Process: Send your application to contact-tech@bellingcat.com.
  • Application Components: Include your CV and a cover letter answering specific questions outlined in the guidelines.
  • More so, your cover letter should be up to 2,000 words answering specific questions about your project idea, plan, and skills.
  • Subject Line: Please mention “Technical Writing Fellowship” in the subject line of your email.

Rewards

  • Stipend:  Fellows will receive a stipend of 1,000 Euros per month during the fellowship.
  • Flexibility: Work remotely, from any timezone, and at your own pace.
  • Networking: Engage with the Bellingcat Investigative Team and independent experts throughout the fellowship.
  • Publication Opportunity: Fellows may have the opportunity to share their outcomes via Bellingcat’s platforms or publications.


About the Fellowship 

  • Project Duration: Projects should last between two to six months, with part-time work.
  • Project Scope: Propose ideas for improving documentation, usability, accessibility, or user experience of open-source investigative tools.
  • Application Process: Submit a detailed project proposal and plan, outlining your vision, milestones, and relevant skills.
