Be the winner of a photography mentorship in Myanmar!

This year, World Nomads will be giving an aspiring travel photographer a Travel Photography Scholarship. Apply for this contest and gain the opportunity to capture the vibrant culture of Myanmar under the mentor ship of professional photographer and Canon Master Richard I’Anson.

To win this life-changing opportunity, submit your best photo essay featuring a place you have visited, and tell them why you’re the right person for the job.

About the assignment

You’ll be flown from your country of residence to Yangon, Myanmar where you and Richard will spend 10 days documenting the Thingyan water festival, ancient temples and traditional tribes courtesy of Intrepid Travel. You’ll also be kitted out with some incredible gear from our friends at Kathmandu.

Finally, the winner and shortlisted applicants will each receive a copy of Lonely Planet’s Guide to Travel Photography, written by Richard I’Anson.

How do I apply?

Shoot a 5 image max photo story

Your brief is to tell a story from a place that you have visited through images (with accompanying captions to help contextualize each shot). A ‘place’ can literally be anywhere – from your backyard to somewhere you visited on your travels.

Write a winning essay

In 1500 characters or less, tell World Nomads  what winning this photography scholarship would mean to you and why you are the best person for the assignment. In your essay write about yourself, your passion for photography, what motivates you and what your photography aspirations are. Paint a picture of who the budding photographer is behind the story.
