Win £500 In The 25-Word Novel Challenge—Apply Now

‘It is with words as with sunbeams – the more they are condensed, the deeper they burn’.

Robert Southey

To celebrate 25 years of teaching creative writing at Bath Spa University, they are challenging people to apply Southey’s philosophy and write a novel in 25 words, on any topic. This opportunity is open to anyone who is not a published author. How easy is it to tell an entire story in just a few words? Guess we will find out.

You can tell your story however you like as long as it does not exceed the word count.

Prize value: £500 for the overall winner.

The winner and two runners-up will have their entries published on ‘A Place in Words’. Winners will be invited to attend Bath Spa University’s Creative Writing Anthology launch in central London on Friday 15 September 2017, where Jeremy Irons will read out the winning entry, live. Your travel costs and stay in a hotel overnight will be covered so you can enjoy the event.
Deadline: 30 June 2017
Open for: Anyone who is aged 18 or over, and is not a published author
