Creative writers from anywhere in the world care invited to send their work to the Awakenings Literary Magazine. The upcoming issue is titled the Awakened Voices. This issue will focus on the theme: Those Who Need Help..

Important Facts To Note About Awakenings

The goal of the Awakenings is to encourage and showcase the artistic expression of survivors of sexual violence. The publishers want to showcase stories of survival so as to help survivors of rape and sexual violence cope with their traumatic experiences.

Submissions Guidelines

  • The deadline for submissions is February 28, 2019.
  • No entry fees are required.
  • Submissions should reflect the theme for the Spring 2019 issue i: Those Who Help.
  • However, you can send material that doesn’t necessarily respond to the theme.. But the writing must be on the topic of sexual violence.

Here’s what one of the editors wrote in their email to Creative Writing News.

Writers who identify as survivors of sexual violence are strongly encouraged to submit work. We prioritize submissions from survivors, secondary survivors, counselors, and educators of sexual violence.

Other Guidelines To Note

Writers are free to submit any genre of writing.
They do not mind profanity.

Feel free to send previously published and unpublished work.
Contributors will not receive any cash awards. However, the editors promise to promote contributors and support their craft in other ways.
Response time: 4 – 8 weeks
