Apply For The Graywolf Press Africa Manuscript Prize ($12,000)

If you have an unpublished novel, perhaps you should consider entering it for the Graywolf Press Africa Prize. This amazing award is for a first novel manuscript by an African author who primarily resides in Africa. Submissions will open on October 1 and end October 31, 2017. Don’t miss the deadline.

Judges:  Graywolf editors and A. Igoni Barrett, author of  Love Is Power and Blackass.

Prizes:

  1. $12,000 advance
  2. A publication by Graywolf Press
  3. A dedicated effort to making the book available in major markets in African countries.

Eligibility and Guidelines For The Graywolf Press Africa Manuscript Award

  1. Manuscript must be a full-length previously unpublished work of fiction
  2. Submissions must be in English, but translations will be considered
  3. Only electronic submissions will be accepted. Send your manuscript theough the Graywolf page on Submittable.
  4. Applicants with prior books will be considered as long as none of their published works is a novel.
  5. Formatting guidelines: a PDF or Word file (.doc and .docx), 12-point font, double-spaced lines. Make sure the pages are numbered.
