We are pleased to announce that The Alpine Fellowship Competition 2025 has commenced. The theme for this year’s fellowship is ‘fear.’ Alpine is opening the door for an array of academics, authors, thought-leaders and more to attend a three-day symposium aimed at offering new insights, forging new connections and developing individual practice.

What are the Rules of The Alpine Fellowship Competition 2025?

Firstly, all genres of writing are permitted, including fiction, non-fiction, and non-academic essays.
Secondly, the competition is open to all nationalities.
All interested applicants must be aged 18 or above at the time of entry.
Every entry must be well written in English.
Additionally, participants can enter multiple prizes.
Writers have a maximum of 1,250 words per entry (Please note: The word count has been reduced in 2025, so previous years winners word counts are higher).
Each submission must be standalone and cannot be extracted from a larger piece.
Stories must not have been published (not including self-published), or accepted for publication in print or online, or have won or been placed in another competition at any time.
It is important to note that submissions will be judged anonymously, so please ensure that your name does not appear anywhere on your work. Because, Apline is impartial will not award writers by their identities.
For this same purpose of impartiality, due to the volume of applications, the judge’s decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into following the results.
Significantly, the use of generative writing programmes or artificial intelligence (for example, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) is strictly prohibited. Because Alpine is searching for authenticity. Writers face disqualification if found breaking this rule.

What Do Writers Stand to Gain from The Competition?

The winner and runners-up of this competition will receive financial support in the following amounts:

First place: £3,000
Second place: £1,000
Third place: £1,000

The organisers however reserve the right to change any aspect of the prizes at any point during the submission or judging process or to not award a prize if they choose.
