Des Moines Women’s Club Literature Scholarship / How To Apply (Up to $2000)
The Des Moines Women’s Club is pleased to offer a $2,000 literature scholarship to graduating high school seniors who demonstrate a passion for reading and writing.
The Club empowers its members through lifelong learning, meaningful connections, and community engagement, while preserving the historic Hoyt Sherman Place and supporting arts and education initiatives.
Eligibility For The Des Moines Women’s Club Literature Scholarship
– Graduating high school senior
– Legal resident of or registered student in Polk, Boone, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Story, or Warren County
– Attending an accredited college, university, or conservatory in the 2025-2026 school year
– May apply for only one Des Moines Women’s Club scholarship per year
Application Requirements
– Complete online application form
– Narrative essay (brief description of yourself, reading habits, and writing goals)
– Written piece (poem or short story, 3-8 pages)
– Literary analysis (1-3 pages) on a published piece of literature
– Letter of recommendation from a high school teacher

Submit your application online by January 27, 2025. Ensure all required documents are uploaded, and your reference submits their letter of recommendation to dmwclub@hoytsherman.org.
