About the LOATAD Black Residency
The Library of Africa and the African Diaspora (LOATAD) Black Atlantic Residency is a residency program that brings together writers of Africa and the African Diaspora to work on a common theme. It is designed for writers and researchers from the African diaspora interested in exploring African history, literature, and cultural connections across the Atlantic. The residency offers selected participants time and space to work on projects that reflect the diaspora’s shared history and interconnected stories.
During the residency, writers have access to LOATAD’s extensive collection of African literature and resources and the opportunity to engage in discussions, workshops, and cultural exchange with Ghanaian creatives and scholars. This residency is an enriching opportunity to deepen creative work in a supportive environment, fostering connections within the global African diaspora.
