The Miles Morland Foundation Writing Scholarship/ How To Apply (£18,000)
The Miles Morland Foundation Writing Scholarship is now receiving applications for its annual scholarship program. The Miles Morland Foundation’s aims to support entities in Africa which enable Africans to get their voices heard. They are particularly interested in supporting African writing and African literature. Here’s all you need to know before applying:
Eligibility For The Miles Morland Foundation Writing Scholarship:
The Scholarship is open to anyone writing in the English language who was born in Africa, or both of whose parents were born in Africa.
Requirements for The Miles Morland Foundation Writing Scholarship:
- Full length works of adult fiction or non-fiction. Poetry, plays, film scripts, children’s books, and short story collections do not qualify.
- Apply with Submissions between 2,000 to 5,000 words as a Word document of work that has been published and offered for sale.
- Proof of publication and proof of sale.
- A description of between 400 – 1,000 words about the new book you intend to write.
- A scan of an official document showing that you, or both of your parents, were born in Africa.
- A brief of between 200 – 300 words. Here are some tips for writing an impressive bio.
Benefits:
- Scholars will receive a grant of £18,000, paid monthly over the course of twelve months.
- Fully funded mentorship opportunities(funded by the MMF) by an established author or publisher when the scholarship elapses.

Apply by 20 September, 2024. They will ignore late applications, so be quick!
