Brink Literary Journal Calls For Prose And Poetry/ How To Submit (Pay: $25-$100)

Brink Literary Journal is an in-print literary journal dedicated to publishing hybrid and cross-genre work from both emerging and established creatives who often reside outside traditional artistic disciplines.

Submission Guidelines For Brink Literary Journal

  • Submissions must be familiar with Brink’s previously published work.
  • Single issues can be purchased from the website to understand the journal’s style and themes.
  • Submissions are read during January and July, with the current deadline being July 31, 2024.
  • Brink does not accept work that is transphobic, homophobic, racist, or xenophobic.
  • Submissions must align with the theme of each issue and the idea of being on the brink.
  • They don’t want submissions that are transphobic, homophobic, racist, or xenophobic.

 

What They Want

Brink Literary Journal Wants:

  • Hybrid and cross-genre work that falls into the category called “Evocations.”
  • Work that presses boundaries and uses more than one medium to tell a story.
  • Submissions that engage with the theme of “Access” for the upcoming issue.
  • Access signifies approach, ability, right, or permission to engage with practices, places, and people.
  • The theme can be interpreted through politics, healthcare, education, environment, and personal stories of accessibility.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to all writers and artists who identify their work as hybrid or cross-genre or are interested in hybridizing their work.
  • Emerging writers who have not yet published a book-length collection are eligible.
  • Writers with forthcoming books may enter if their first book is published after April 2024.
  • Writers who have published and edited an anthology or a collection of other writers’ works are eligible.
  • Family, colleagues, intimate friends, and contributors previously published in Brink are ineligible.

 

Author Rights

Submissions must be previously unpublished. Also, authors retain copyright of their work.

 

Pay Rates At Brink Literary Journal

  • $25 per poem.
  • $50-100 for prose.
