Article Submission Guidelines For Layered Butter

  • Each issue is built around a particular abstract theme/genre/director/actor, and they open up the submission process for each new issue 2-3 months in advance of the submission deadline
  • However, they are also now accepting general pitches and submissions (off-theme) for consideration.
  • They are open to other aspects of formal analysis and cultural criticism, interviews, essays, etc.
  • Please note that no pitch is too absurd.
  • Their essays and criticism works tend to be between 1000-2000 words, though they are open to longer pieces.
  • Layered Butter is meant to be a community that encourages collaboration.
  • If possible, please include samples of previous work.

What They Don’t Want
