The Island Prize Shortlist 2024
The Island Prize has announced the shortlisted winners for 2024.
The Island Prize organizers have released the names of the shortlisted winners for the 2024 submissions. The prize was created to recognize African writers and award them the opportunity to be published in the UK and South Africa.
From submitted entries, no more than TEN and no fewer than FIVE authors will be invited to submit their full manuscripts. The authors are usually provided with optional feedback. From this shortlist, the winning three entries will be chosen, with prize money of £500 for the first and £200 for each runner-up. The winning three manuscripts will all be considered for publication and read by an agent.

- FREELANCE – SIMBARASHE STEYN KUNDIZEZA (ZIMBABWE)
- LYRICS TO THE COLOUR RED – RUBY EXCEL (GHANA)
- WHEN THE SHADOWS CALL – MALI KAMBANDU (ZAMBIA)
The Island Prize is an annual competition that promotes African fiction writers. It is always open to African writers aged 18 and over, regardless of place of residence.
