About the Founder
The inspiration behind the Prize comes from her
My own rich and exciting life in writing. I’ve traveled the world, from Sweden to South Africa, and attended prestigious events like the Golden Globes and the Olympic women’s hockey finals. My work has allowed me to photograph a mother polar bear and her cubs and profile stars such as ABBA, Jennifer Garner, and Katarina Witt. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support and opportunities provided by women.
Women have played pivotal roles in my career – from my mother, a journalist, to my sister in publishing, and the female editors who gave me my big breaks with the New York Times, the Washington Post, and National Geographic. Nearly every award-winning story I’ve written was assigned by a woman. Teachers, librarians, publicists, literary agents, and fellow writers have all profoundly impacted my journey.
Therefore, Irene is passionate about giving back to women. You don’t want to miss this opportunity!
