Submission Guidelines For Variant Literature

 

General

  • Writers are advised to submit only one piece per submission period.
  • Submissions must be made through Submittable; email submissions are not accepted.
  • All work should be compiled into one file for submission convenience.
  • The editorial team at Variant Literature endeavors to provide timely responses, typically within two months.
  • Simultaneous submissions are permitted, but writers must promptly notify them if their work is accepted elsewhere.
  • Previously published works are not accepted.

 

Poetry

  • There are no format restrictions for poetry submissions.
  • Writers may submit up to five poems, with a total length not exceeding 10 pages.

 

Fiction

  • Fiction submissions should be limited to no more than 15 pages in total.
  • For very short story pieces, writers may submit up to three pieces within their submission.

 

Nonfiction

  • Nonfiction submissions should also be limited to no more than 15 pages.
  • Like fiction, writers may submit up to three flash nonfiction pieces.
