New University of Iowa MOOC opens July 18!

The University Of Iowa presents their newest MOOC. Whitman’s Civil War: Writing and Imaging Death, Loss, and Disaster which will begin on July 18th! This MOOC will embark upon a journey through Walt Whitman’s writings on the American Civil War. This course will be taught by Professor Ed Folsom and Professor
Christopher Merrill, longtime friends and collaborators.

You are invited to experiment in poetry, essay, letters, memoir, journalism, photography and illustration

Discussions will examine how writing and image can be used to examine war, conflict, trauma, disaster, and reconciliation in Whitman’s time and today .

This course is free and open to everyone.

This MOOC will be taught in English. To join, you will need access to a computer or mobile device with a stable internet connection. If you would like to take this course but do not have reliable internet access, please contact them on . They will try to facilitate a local MOOC access group where you live.
