The 2018 Lagos Poetry Festival—Register

If you’ve just read How I Earned My First $1,200 From Writing and Publishing Poetry by Pamelyn Casto. You probably can’t wait to write your next poem. I have good news for you. Another fantastic poetry literary festival is underway. It’s got everything a poet needs for inspiration.

Literary enthusiasts are invited to attend the second edition of the Lagos Poetry Festival. Slated to hold at from 31st October – 4th November 2018, this event will focus on the theme “Wide Awake” .

Venue: Freedom Park, Old Prison Ground, Broad Street, Lagos Island, Lagos.

This poetry festival promises to be very exciting, enlightening and memorable. Poets, prose writers, artists, and philosophers from across the  globe will be gathering at Lagos for a week of conversations, readings, performances, workshops and adventure.  It’s a great platform for writers who want to network, learn and grow.

According to the press release:

LIPFest2018 examines the growing importance of vigilance in a post-truth era. Conversations will explore new frontiers in the fight for gender equality and identity, racial and social justice and how the concerns of awakening collective consciousness and mediating justified paranoia animates art.

Below are the highlights of this spectacular literary festival:

  • 35 guests (all professional writers) from 12 countries
  • 4 writing workshops and masterclasses,
  • 10 panel discussions,
  • 5 readings and performances,
  • 2 parties (Lagos style)
  • The launching of its poet-in-residence program. The first poet to benefit from this program is the magnificent South African poet and activist Lebo Mashile
  • and lots more.

I have no doubts that this literary festival will be a lot better than the last one I attended.  Fantastic poetry performers like Wana Udobang, and Lebo Mashile will be there.
